About a girl

 How does the director make an impact on the audience through the character of the girl? The director uses a direct address to the audience, this makes the audience feel a connection the character as she is addressing us directly. This makes the plot twist at the end more hard hitting and impactful on the audience. The character directly addressing the audience makes the audience feel like they understand the character and her life as she is telling it. The direct address allows the audience to hear the girls accent and how she speaks which implies her class where she is from, the direct address also allows us to understand in depth her opinions on her family and friends first hand, the information comes straight from her. The direct address is effective because we are given a lot information directly from the person instead of watching it slowly unfold through her narration. Ruby Thornton poisoned Kate Thornton at the beginning of the story, and it's taken the whole story to take effect. Story of Kate Thornton who starts off fine and  healthy, Kate has a stressful work life and is often stuck in the office, being a lawyer. she is a single mum to her daughter Ruby and son Jacob. Ruby is an average person, she is an adult but still lives with Kate. Jacob is slightly younger than Ruby and is around 18 years old he also lives at home but he is more rebellious and disrespectful than Ruby. The film starts with Kate rushing of to work and Ruby going to her small job at a book shop, Jacob is asleep on the chair. we see Kates day progress and we establish her busy lifestyle, we then cut to Rubys relaxed work environment where she organises books, Ruby is holding chemistry books and putting them away.
