Initial response Do you find the ending of the film to be satisfying resolution ? Why ? I found it different and I liked the fact that it wasn't properly resolved, how ever I think the end went on for too long How were you expecting the film to end ? I wasn't sure but I thought it would end with Anton Chigurh dying or being defeated Why do you feel the Coen Brothers decided to have their main protagonist killed offscreen , and then avoid a final climax between Sheriff Bell and Chigurh ? Consider the effect on the audience in terms of expectations of genre and narrative, and the themes of law and order v criminality , good v evil , heroism etc. To confuse the audience and make them think about whether good vs evil narratives are always as satisfying, Killing Llewlyn off screen showed that he wasn't really a 'hero' and having Sheriff bell retire before catching Chigurh mace the audience think about who they align with
